BAKER TUBULAR FAQ PAGE
-
How are your split seam
spacers, bushings and sleeves manufactured?
Our tubes are manufactured from
sheet steel using high speed punch presses. We have developed a
method to automatically feed the steel into our press. Here the
first stage of the die creates what we term the "first
form", an upside down U-shaped part. This is then indexed
into the second stage of the die where it is formed into a tube by
rolling the part around a mandrel with a punch and die. We purchase
the steel so that the width of the coil will create the length of
part when formed in the press.

What type of equipment do you
use in your manufacturing process?
We currently have a number of
straight back punch presses that range in size from 32 ton up to
our most recent addition, a 120 ton Komatsu press.
